In Prempoint, we associate smart keys with users for better tracking and management of those smart keys. Even if you choose to not add your residents to their units within Prempoint, you still need a user to associate their smart keys with.
To accomplish this, you can create your own "dummy" email address and use that. Say your company's email domain is xyz.com. Have your IT department create a new email address like "firstname.lastname@example.org". It's important that you use a real email address that can receive email. If emails get bounced back to Prempoint during registration, we will disable the account.
Now that you have email@example.com set up, you can add that email address to the units so you have a resident user to assign smart keys.
It can further clarify things by adding a tag to the email address when adding it to a unit. Most email systems allow a tag to be added to an email address by putting "+<tag>" in the address. If you're using an email address of firstname.lastname@example.org, some examples of tagging that would look like this:
Email sent to any of the above email addresses will still be received by email@example.com.
