The setup of Prempoint is a simple process that can be done in a matter of hours, not days. The basic steps are:
- Sign up for a free Prempoint account. Use a general email address for your company. For example, leasing@mycompany.com or support@mycompany.com. This is the email address that will be the owner of the group you create below.
- Create a Group. A group is how you organize your properties and the folks that manage them. NOTE: it is a good idea to add a logo and cover photo for your group as it helps maintain your brand and looks nicer for your residents.
- Contact support@prempoint.com so we can upgrade your account to the plan you've paid for.
- Add your units. There are two ways to add units.
- Create them individually by entering the details manually.
- Import the units from a CSV exported from your property management software. More detailed information about importing can be found here.

- If you are using Schlage Engage locks, commission them using the Allegion Engage app. Instructions on commissioning can be found here.
- Add locks to your units. This can be done either by importing them directly from the Engage site used above, or manually adding them one at a time.
- Option 1: To import devices your group must be properly set up in Prempoint, which may require assistance from the Prempoint support team. If you see the "Import Devices" button on the Devices page, then you are good to go and can just click that and you're done. If you don't, please open a ticket to Prempoint and we will get your group set up properly so you do see the button. PLEASE NOTE: If you name the devices exactly the same as the units they need to be associated with, when you do this import in Prempoint we will automatically associate the devices to the appropriate unit rather than you having to manually do this.
OR - Option 2: Manually adding the devices to Prempoint one at a time must be done in the Prempoint Mobile App and you must be near the lock for this step as it is connecting to the lock over Bluetooth.
- When you first start the Prempoint app, be sure the proper unit is showing and tap on "Add Device"
- Select the appropriate lock model you're adding.
- Wait for the appropriate lock for this unit to be displayed and tap on it.
